The Trail and Landscape: The Kheerganga trail is a dynamic mix of terrains. It winds through dense pine and oak forests, offering ample shade and a rich canopy. The constant companion is the roaring Parvati River, visible and audible throughout much of the ascent, with several small streams and waterfalls cascading down the hillsides. Key Attractions

The primary allure of Kheerganga is its natural hot water spring, where trekkers can take a dip and relax their tired muscles while surrounded by snow-capped mountains. The views from the top are breathtaking, especially at sunrise and sunset, offering a 360-degree panorama of the majestic Himalayas. Along the trail, you’ll encounter quaint Himachali villages like Kalga, Pulga, and Tosh, traditional wooden houses, gushing waterfalls, and vibrant flora. The trek itself is a visual treat, with the sound of the Parvati River accompanying you for much of the journey. There’s also a small Shiva temple at the top, adding to the spiritual ambiance. The best time to undertake this trek is from May to June and September to October, when the weather is pleasant and the trails are clear.

4 Nights / 5 Days Kheerganga Trek Itinerary

This itinerary provides a relaxed pace, allowing you to acclimatize and fully enjoy the beauty of the Parvati Valley.

Day 1: Arrival in Kasol & Transfer to Barshaini

  • Morning/Afternoon: Arrive at Bhuntar Airport (Kullu) or take an overnight bus to Bhuntar/Kasol.

  • Late Afternoon: From Bhuntar, take a local bus or taxi to Kasol. After a short break in Kasol, head towards Barshaini (the trek’s starting point, approx. 18-20 km from Kasol).

  • Evening: Check into a guesthouse or homestay in Barshaini or a nearby village like Kalga/Pulga. Relax, explore the immediate surroundings, and prepare for the trek.

  • Overnight: Barshaini/Kalga/Pulga.

Day 2: Trek to Kheerganga

  • Morning: After an early breakfast, begin your trek from Barshaini to Kheerganga. There are a couple of routes; the one via Nakthan Village and Rudra Nag waterfall is popular.

  • Day: The trek is approximately 10-12 km and takes about 4-6 hours, depending on your pace. Enjoy the scenic beauty, cross wooden bridges, and pass through dense pine forests.

  • Afternoon: Arrive at Kheerganga. Check into your pre-booked campsite or guesthouse.

  • Evening: Relax and rejuvenate in the famous hot water springs. Enjoy the sunset views and a simple dinner.

  • Overnight: Kheerganga.

Day 3: Explore Kheerganga & Descent to Tosh

  • Morning: Wake up early to witness a mesmerizing sunrise over the Himalayas. Spend some more time at the hot springs or explore the small Shiva temple.

  • Late Morning: After breakfast, start your descent back towards Barshaini.

  • Afternoon: From Barshaini, take a local taxi or walk to Tosh, another picturesque village known for its bohemian vibe and stunning views.

  • Evening: Check into a guesthouse in Tosh. Explore the village, enjoy the serene atmosphere, and perhaps visit a local cafe.

  • Overnight: Tosh.

Day 4: Tosh Exploration & Relaxation

  • Day: This day is dedicated to exploring Tosh and its surroundings. You can take a short walk to a nearby waterfall, visit the local temple, or simply relax and soak in the tranquil Himalayan environment.

  • Optional: If you’re feeling adventurous, you can explore other nearby villages like Malana (requires a separate trek/taxi) or simply enjoy the peace of Tosh.

  • Evening: Enjoy a leisurely dinner and reflect on your trek experience.

  • Overnight: Tosh.

Day 5: Departure from Parvati Valley

  • Morning: After breakfast, check out from your guesthouse in Tosh.

  • Late Morning: Take a taxi or local bus from Tosh back to Barshaini, and then to Kasol.

  • Afternoon: From Kasol, you can catch a bus to Bhuntar for your onward journey, or directly take a bus to Delhi/Chandigarh if available.

  • Departure: Depart from Parvati Valley with unforgettable memories.
