Brahmatal Trek: 4N/5D Itinerary

Day 0: Delhi to Kathgodam (Overnight Journey)

  • Evening: Depart from Delhi ISBT by overnight bus or train to Kathgodam. This journey usually takes around 7-9 hours.

  • Accommodation: Overnight travel.

Day 1: Kathgodam to Lohajung (Base Camp)

  • Morning: Arrive at Kathgodam. From here, you’ll take a pre-arranged taxi or shared cab to Lohajung (approximately 8-9 hours drive). The drive is scenic, passing through charming Kumaon villages and winding mountain roads.

  • Evening: Arrive at Lohajung, check into a guesthouse or homestay. Attend a trek briefing, prepare for the trek, and enjoy dinner.

  • Accommodation: Guesthouse/Homestay in Lohajung.

Day 2: Lohajung (7,600 ft) to Bekaltal (9,885 ft)

  • Morning: After breakfast, begin your trek from Lohajung. The trail ascends gradually through dense rhododendron and oak forests.

  • Afternoon: Reach Bekaltal, a beautiful frozen lake (in winter). Set up camp near the lake.

  • Evening: Explore the surroundings of Bekaltal. Enjoy dinner and overnight stay in tents.

  • Trekking Distance: Approx. 6-7 km

  • Trekking Time: Approx. 4-5 hours

  • Accommodation: Tents.

Day 3: Bekaltal (9,885 ft) to Brahmatal (10,393 ft) & Summit Push (12,250 ft) & Return to Brahmatal Base Camp

  • Morning: Today is the most exciting day! Trek from Bekaltal towards Brahmatal Lake. The trail continues through beautiful snowy forests.

  • Late Morning: Reach Brahmatal Lake. After a short break, continue your ascent to the Brahmatal summit ridge. This is the highest point of the trek, offering breathtaking panoramic views of peaks like Trishul, Nanda Ghunti, Mrigthuni, and Chaukhamba.

  • Afternoon: Descend back to Brahmatal base camp.

  • Evening: Enjoy the serene surroundings of Brahmatal. Dinner and overnight stay in tents.

  • Trekking Distance: Approx. 7-8 km (round trip to summit)

  • Trekking Time: Approx. 6-7 hours

  • Accommodation: Tents.

Day 4: Brahmatal (10,393 ft) to Lohajung (7,600 ft)

  • Morning: Enjoy a final breakfast amidst the mountains. Begin your descent back to Lohajung. The descent is relatively easier and quicker.

  • Afternoon: Arrive back in Lohajung. Check into your guesthouse. You can relax, freshen up, and celebrate the successful completion of your trek.

  • Evening: Dinner and overnight stay in Lohajung.

  • Trekking Distance: Approx. 8-9 km

  • Trekking Time: Approx. 5-6 hours

  • Accommodation: Guesthouse/Homestay in Lohajung.

Day 5: Lohajung to Kathgodam & Departure to Delhi

  • Morning: After breakfast, depart from Lohajung by taxi or shared cab back to Kathgodam.

  • Afternoon/Evening: Arrive at Kathgodam. Board your bus or train back to Delhi.

  • Accommodation: Overnight travel.
